Apple has recently announced a repair extension/service program for 2017 13″ MacBook Pro models WITHOUT Touch Bar. These models have modular flash storage drives which have a known issue (specifically the 128GB and 256GB versions) that may result in data loss.
From Apple:
Apple has determined that a limited number of 128GB and 256GB solid-state drives (SSD) used in 13-inch MacBook Pro (non Touch Bar) units have an issue that may result in data loss and failure of the drive. 13-inch MacBook Pro units with affected drives were sold between June 2017 and June 2018.
As an Apple Authorized Service Provider, Lapin is able to provide this service under the program guidelines outlined in the link below. If you are the owner of an affected unit, please remember to create a full backup of your data prior to bringing your machine in for this service. Although Lapin can assist with data backup and migration services prior to completing the repair (provided the drive is still fully functional), these services are not included in the service program and may incur additional costs.
